Relating to courts; amending ORS 419B.517.

Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:

SECTION 1. ORS 419B.517 is amended to read:

419B.517. The use of mediation [in cases involving the termination of parental rights] shall be encouraged in cases involving:

(1) A parent or guardian in a juvenile dependency proceeding in which the child is taken into protective custody or placed in substitute care; or

(2) The termination of parental rights.
