Oregon Laws 2005

AN ACT

Whereas the foundation of American freedom and democracy is a strong, effective system of education in which every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe and nurturing environment; and

Whereas much of the success of the State of Oregon is the result of the hard work and dedication of Oregon teachers; and

Whereas Oregon teachers are true heroes in our communities who, through their dedication to children, work millions of small miracles every day; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon:

That the first Tuesday of the first full week in May shall be designated as Teacher Appreciation Day to honor excellence in teaching. All school districts and their employees are encouraged to participate.
