Creates Local Officials Advisory Committee to advise Oregon
Transportation Commission and Department of Transportation.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to a local officials advisory committee.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) The Local Officials Advisory Committee is
created for the purposes of:
(a) Promoting cooperation among the Oregon Transportation
Commission, the Department of Transportation and local
governments in the implementation of laws and policies related to
transportation; and
(b) Furthering the development and implementation of a seamless
transportation system in this state.
(2) The commission shall determine the number of committee
members and the duration of membership and shall appoint members
of the committee from among city and county elected and appointed
officials. Prior to making appointments to the committee, the
commission shall solicit recommendations from the League of
Oregon Cities and the Association of Oregon Counties. The
commission shall appoint members in such a way that different
geographic regions of the state are represented on the committee.
(3) The committee shall:
(a) Elect a chairperson and a vice chairperson.
(b) Meet at least six times a year.
(c) Advise and assist the commission and the department on
planning, issues, policies and programs that affect local
government and the transportation system.
(4) The department shall provide policy and support staff to
the committee. The department shall also provide other personnel
to assist the committee as requested by the chairperson and
within the limits of available funds. + }
