Senate Concurrent Resolution 2
Printed pursuant to Senate Interim Rule 213.28 by order of the
President of the Senate in conformance with presession filing
rules, indicating neither advocacy nor opposition on the part
of the President (at the request of Senator Joan Dukes)
Whereas Mildred Berkey Davy is the daughter of Fred and Esther
Berkey, who settled in Tillamook County in the last wave of early
20th century homesteading; and
Whereas Mildred Davy was Tillamook High School's valedictorian
at age 16 in 1928; and
Whereas Mildred Davy spent many years volunteering for the
American Red Cross, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Cub
Scouts, the PTA and many other local organizations; and
Whereas Mildred Davy has hosted a radio show on KTIL since 1963
called 'It's a Woman's World,' and KTIL's sister station KMBD was
renamed in honor of Mildred Davy; and
Whereas Mildred Davy was the first female member of the
Tillamook Kiwanis Club, and she currently serves on the Tillamook
County Pioneer Museum Board and the Tillamook County General
Hospital Board; and
Whereas Mildred Davy has been honored by Tillamook Bay
Community College with the Mildred Davy Endowed Scholarship fund;
and
Whereas Mildred Davy was honored as the Citizen of the Year in
Tillamook County in 1989; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
That we, the members of the Seventy-third Legislative Assembly,
honor Mildred Berkey Davy for a lifetime of achievements and for
her extraordinary and tireless public and community service to
the people of Tillamook County.
