SUMMARY
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the

brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
Commends Linfield College football team for their exemplary
intercollegiate athletic achievements.
CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Whereas the Linfield College Wildcats of McMinnville became the
NCAA Division III national champions on December 18, 2004, in
Salem, Virginia, by defeating the University of Mary
Hardin-Baylor Crusaders of Belton, Texas, by a score of 28-21;
and
Whereas the Wildcats finished the 2004 season with a perfect
13-0 winning record; and
Whereas Jay Locey, the Wildcats head coach, was named Division
III Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches
Association; and
Whereas Wildcats quarterback Brett Elliott of Lake Oswego broke
the all-divisions record for most touchdowns thrown in a single
season by completing 61 touchdown passes and throwing a Division
III record 4,695 yards; and
Whereas the Wildcats have posted 49 consecutive winning
seasons, the longest streak in college football history; now,
therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
That we, the members of the Seventy-third Legislative Assembly,
commend the exemplary intercollegiate athletic achievements of
the NCAA Division III national champions, the Linfield College
Wildcats.
