AN ACT

Relating to hepatitis C.
Be It Enacted by the People of
the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. (1)
As used in this section, “veteran” means a person who is a resident of Oregon
and who served in the Armed Forces of the United States or the Reserves.
(2) The Department of
Veterans’ Affairs shall provide, in written or electronic format, educational
materials on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of hepatitis C in veterans
who are at high risk of contracting the disease.
(3) The department shall
make the materials available to all veterans and health care providers.
(4) The materials shall
include:
(a) The recommendations
of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Liver
Foundation relating to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of hepatitis C;
and
(b) Information from
other groups that the department believes present reliable information
concerning the increased risk to veterans of contracting hepatitis C.
