Relating to district attorneys; amending ORS 8.726.
Be It Enacted by the People of
the State of
SECTION 1.
ORS 8.726 is amended to read:
8.726. (1) Except as
authorized by [subsections (2) and (3) of
this section, a district attorney, or a deputy district attorney, who receives
an annual salary of more than $18,000 from the state, or from the state and
county, shall] subsection (2) of this section, district attorneys and
deputy district attorneys may not engage in the private practice of law.

[(3)] (2) A district attorney or deputy district attorney may
engage in volunteer or pro bono legal work [is not prohibited].
