Oregon Laws 2007

 

          Whereas the Blue Star Memorial Program was created to honor all veterans who have served, are serving, or will serve in the Armed Forces of the United States of America; and

          Whereas the Blue Star Memorial Program was established in the early 1940s as a way to recognize the families of veterans; and

          Whereas the emblem of the Blue Star, taken from the blue star in the service banner, was used during World War II on flags and in the homes of families that had a son or daughter in the service; and

          Whereas the emblem of the Gold Star was displayed to signify families of veterans who had sacrificed their lives in service; now, therefore,

 

Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon:

 

          That we, the members of the Seventy-fourth Legislative Assembly, designate the Sunday prior to Veterans Day every year as Blue Star Memorial Highway Day in recognition of veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and their families.
