SUMMARY

Declares January 13 of each year to be Korean American Day.
Establishes Korean American Day Commission to promote, organize
and coordinate Korean American Day celebrations.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to Korean American Day.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) January 13 of each year shall be known as
Korean American Day. The Governor shall issue a proclamation each
year calling upon the people of this state to celebrate on
January 13 the contributions to the state by Korean Americans in
the arts, sciences, commerce and education.
(2) The Korean American Day Commission is established. The
commission has seven members, appointed by the Governor.
(3) The term of office of each member of the Korean American
Day Commission is four years, but a member serves at the pleasure
of the Governor. Before the expiration of the term of a member,
the Governor shall appoint a successor. A member is eligible for
reappointment one time. If there is a vacancy for any cause, the
Governor shall make an appointment to become immediately
effective for the unexpired term.
(4) Members of the Korean American Day Commission serve without
compensation or payment of expenses.
(5) The Korean American Day Commission shall promote, organize
and coordinate Korean American Day celebrations. The commission
shall seek private and public involvement in the
celebrations. + }
