Establishes Oregon Center for Business and Economic Education.
Appropriates moneys from General Fund to center for
administration.
Sunsets January 1, 2013.
Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2007.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to Oregon Center for Business and Economic Education;
appropriating money; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) The Oregon Center for Business and Economic
Education is established in Florence, Oregon.
(2) The Governor shall appoint a director for the center.
(3) The center may:
(a) Adopt rules necessary for operation of the center;
(b) Hire staff for the center; and
(c) Perform other duties as necessary for the operation of the
center.
(4) The center shall:
(a) Work with school districts that offer education programs in
kindergarten through grade 12, community colleges and state
institutions of higher education to increase student education in
business and economics; and
(b) Report annually to the Department of Education and the
Department of Higher Education.
(5)(a) The center may accept contributions of moneys or
properties that are donated for the use or benefit of the center
and use the moneys or properties for the purposes for which they
were donated.
(b) All moneys received by the center under paragraph (a) of
this subsection shall be paid into the State Treasury and
deposited in the General Fund to the credit of the center. The
moneys are continuously appropriated to the center for the
purposes of carrying out its duties under this section. + }
SECTION 2. { + In addition to and not in lieu of any other
appropriation, there is appropriated to the Oregon Center for
Business and Economic Education, for the biennium beginning July
1, 2007, out of the General Fund, the amount of $900,000, which
may be expended for carrying out the purposes of the center. + }
SECTION 3. { + Section 1 of this 2007 Act is repealed on
January 1, 2013. + }
SECTION 4. { + This 2007 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2007 Act takes effect July 1,
2007. + }
