Requires school districts to provide instruction in financial
education in secondary schools. Directs Department of Education
to prepare financial education program.
Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2007.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to financial education; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) All school districts shall provide courses
of instruction in financial education in the secondary schools of
each district.
(2) The Department of Education shall prepare and make
available to school districts a comprehensive financial education
program. + }
SECTION 2. { + Section 1 of this 2007 Act first applies to the
2007-2008 academic year. + }
SECTION 3. { + This 2007 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2007 Act takes effect July 1,
2007. + }
