Appropriates moneys from General Fund to Department of
Education for School Improvement Fund.
Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2007.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to financial administration of the Department of
Education; appropriating money; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + In addition to and not in lieu of any other
appropriation, there is appropriated to the Department of
Education, for the biennium beginning July 1, 2007, out of the
General Fund, the amount of $10,000,000 for the School
Improvement Fund, as described in ORS 327.294, to provide grants
to school districts, to the Youth Corrections Education Program
and to the Juvenile Detention Education Program to fund
activities related to increasing student achievement and the
implementation of new Oregon high school diploma
requirements. + }
SECTION 2. { + In addition to and not in lieu of any other
appropriation, there is appropriated to the Department of
Education, for the biennium beginning July 1, 2007, out of the
General Fund, the amount of $50,000,000 for the School
Improvement Fund, as described in ORS 327.294, to provide grants
to school districts, to the Youth Corrections Education Program
and to the Juvenile Detention Education Program to fund
activities related to increasing student achievement. + }
SECTION 3. { + This 2007 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2007 Act takes effect July 1,
2007. + }
