SUMMARY
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the

Recognizes September 2007 as Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Recovery Month.
JOINT RESOLUTION
Whereas National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month has
been observed each September for 17 years; and
Whereas this observance promotes the benefits of alcohol and
drug addiction treatment and recovery; and
Whereas every day Oregonians enter treatment for alcohol and
drug addiction and begin the road to recovery, while their
families seek hope and recovery in support programs and
counseling; and
Whereas alcohol and drug addiction disorders are a treatable
yet serious health care problem; and
Whereas the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction disorders
results in stronger and healthier Oregon communities; and
Whereas recognition of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Recovery Month offers Oregonians who work in alcohol and drug
addiction treatment and prevention an opportunity to educate the
public, community organizations, public officials and civic
leaders about the impact of alcohol and drugs on our communities
and the hope of recovery; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
That the Seventy-fourth Legislative Assembly recognizes
September 2007 as Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.
