A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to traffic offenses.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2007 Act is added to and made
a part of the Oregon Vehicle Code. + }
SECTION 2. { + (1) As used in this section, 'forward crossview
mirror' means a mirror or device that enables the driver of a
motor truck to have a clear and unobstructed view of persons or
objects within 10 feet of the front of the motor truck.
(2) A person commits the offense of operation without a forward
crossview mirror if the person drives or moves on any highway, or
owns and causes or knowingly permits to be driven or moved on any
highway, a motor truck with a combined weight of 26,000 pounds or
less that is used for the commercial delivery of packages or
other property and the motor truck is not equipped with a forward
crossview mirror.
(3) This section does not apply to persons that certify in a
manner determined by the Department of Transportation by rule
that a driver of the motor truck has a clear and unobstructed
view that enables the driver to see persons or objects within 10
feet of the front of the motor truck without a forward crossview
mirror.
(4) The offense described in this section, operation without a
forward crossview mirror, is a Class C traffic violation. + }
