  On page 1 of the printed bill, line 2, delete '327.290' and
insert '327.294'.
  Delete lines 4 through 14.
  In line 15, delete '2' and insert '1'.
  On page 2, line 10, delete 'To qualify for'.
  Delete lines 11 through 13.
  On page 3, after line 14, insert:
  '  { +  SECTION 2. + } ORS 327.294 is amended to read:
  ' 327.294. (1) There is established the School Improvement
Fund, separate and distinct from the General Fund. Interest
earned by the School Improvement Fund shall be credited to the
fund. Any moneys in the fund that are not distributed by the
Department of Education in any fiscal year shall be retained in
the fund and may be distributed in the next fiscal year.
  ' (2) The moneys in the fund are continuously appropriated to
the Department of Education for purposes of the grant program
created by ORS 327.297 { +  and the monetary rewards program
established by the department under ORS 327.297.
  ' (3) Each fiscal year, the department may set aside a portion
of the moneys in the fund for monetary rewards for school
districts and programs. After setting aside those moneys, the
department shall determine the total amount available for the
grant program + }.'.
