                      SENATE AMENDMENTS TO
                         SENATE BILL 432

                            March 15
 
  On page 1 of the printed bill, after line 20, insert:
  ' (g) 'Ship' means a vessel that weighs in excess of 200 tons
and operates upon navigable waterways.'.
  In line 21, delete '(g)' and insert '(h)'.
  Delete line 22 and insert:
  ' (i) 'Shipwreck' means a ship that has been stranded or
destroyed by being driven ashore or onto the rocks or the shoal.
  ' (j) 'Waters of this state' has the meaning given that term in
ORS 196.800.'.
  In line 25, delete 'Oregon's territorial sea' and insert ' the
waters of this state'.
  In line 29, delete 'vessel to enter Oregon's territorial sea'
and insert 'ship to enter the waters of this state'.
  After line 29, insert:
  ' (3) Notwithstanding subsection (2) of this section, a person
may in the waters of this state dismantle for removal a ship that
has been shipwrecked if the Department of State Lands determines
that it is physically impracticable to move the shipwreck to a
dry dock.'.
