  Whereas Bob Kintigh served three terms in the Oregon Senate
from 1987 to 1999 and was elected president pro tempore during
his last session; and
  Whereas Bob Kintigh and Margaret Kintigh were named Oregon's
2005 Tree Farmers of the Year for their practice of outstanding
forest management and their work to actively educate other
landowners and the public about good forestry; and
  Whereas in 1957 Bob Kintigh took an unproductive ranch and
turned it into timberland that now produces 40 to 50 loads of
logs annually along with tree seedlings and Christmas trees; and
  Whereas in 1992 a tree grown by Bob Kintigh was chosen for
display in the Blue Room at the White House; and
  Whereas Bob Kintigh set aside several acres of his property for
wildlife habitat, natural areas and wetlands; and
  Whereas Bob Kintigh maintains a true fir arboretum and a
collection of more than 700 rhododendrons; and
  Whereas during World War II, as an officer on a destroyer, Bob
Kintigh was involved in several major naval battles; and
  Whereas during his legislative career Bob Kintigh sponsored the
Adopt-a-Highway and Adopt-a-Park programs; and
  Whereas Bob Kintigh serves on the Oregon Forest Resources
Institute Board and has served as President of the Oregon Small
Woodlands Association, as a National Councilman for the Society
of American Foresters and President of the Eugene Chapter of the
American Rhododendron Society; and
  Whereas Bob Kintigh and Margaret Kintigh were named the 2006
National Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
 
  That we, the members of the Seventy-fourth Legislative
Assembly, do hereby recognize former Senator Bob Kintigh on the
occasion of his award as 2006 National Outstanding Tree Farmer of
the Year and for his service to Oregon; and be it further
  Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
Senator Bob Kintigh as an expression of our appreciation.
