Enrolled
Senate Concurrent Resolution 14
Sponsored by Senator PROZANSKI, Representative HANNA; Senators
MORRISETTE, VERGER, WALKER, Representatives BARNHART, BEYER,
COWAN, HOLVEY, NATHANSON, ROBLAN
Whereas Superintendent Krista Parent was named 2007 National
Superintendent of the Year by the American Association of School
Administrators (AASA) during its National Conference on Education
in New Orleans; and
Whereas no superintendent from Oregon has ever won the AASA
national award; and
Whereas Superintendent Parent has served the 2,900 students of
South Lane School District as superintendent for six years; and
Whereas Superintendent Parent led South Lane School District to
be a state leader in literacy, mathematics and technology; and
Whereas under Superintendent Parent's leadership, Cottage Grove
High School boasts six Advanced Placement courses where before
there were none; and
Whereas Superintendent Parent's modesty makes her all the more
deserving of the prestigious award, which provides a $10,000
college scholarship for an Oregon high school student; now,
therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
That we, the members of the Seventy-fourth Legislative
Assembly, commend the exemplary achievements and contributions of
South Lane School District Superintendent Krista Parent upon her
being named National Superintendent of the Year by the American
Association of School Administrators; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Krista
Parent.
