Memorial Highway Day.

                        JOINT RESOLUTION
Whereas the Blue Star Memorial Program was created to honor all
veterans who have served, are serving, or will serve in the Armed
Forces of the United States of America; and
Whereas the Blue Star Memorial Program was established in the
early 1940s as a way to recognize the families of veterans; and
Whereas the emblem of the Blue Star, taken from the blue star
in the service banner, was used during World War II on flags and
in the homes of families that had a son or daughter in the
service; and
Whereas the emblem of the Gold Star was displayed to signify
families of veterans who had sacrificed their lives in service;
now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
That we, the members of the Seventy-fourth Legislative
Assembly, designate the Sunday prior to Veterans Day every year
as Blue Star Memorial Highway Day in recognition of veterans of
the Armed Forces of the United States of America and their
families.
