    { - Eliminates from Environmental Quality Commission goals
target of substantially reducing risk to school children from
diesel engine emissions. - }
  Requires all school buses with diesel engines to be
  { - repowered or - }  retrofitted with certain engines and
technology by 2017 { +  or replaced by recently manufactured
school buses by 2025 + }.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to diesel engines.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Section 2 of this 2009 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS 468A.795 to 468A.803. + }
  SECTION 2. { +  All school buses with diesel engines operated
in Oregon must be:
  (1) Retrofitted with 2007 equivalent engines and 2007 fine
particulate matter capture technology by January 1, 2017; or
  (2) Replaced with school buses manufactured on or after January
1, 2007, by January 1, 2025. A school bus replaced under this
subsection may not be used for transportation of any type. + }
