AN ACT
SB 670
Relating to
classification of schools; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. For the purpose of
federal loan forgiveness programs offered to teachers, the type of school where
a teacher teaches shall be determined as follows:
(1) The school shall be considered a
secondary school if the school offers instruction in:
(a) Grades 6 through 12, or any part
thereof; or
(b) Kindergarten through grade 12, or
any part thereof, but the teacher is employed for the purpose of teaching any
grade from grade 6 through 12.
(2) The school shall be considered an
elementary school if the school offers instruction in:
(a) Kindergarten through grade 5, or
any part thereof; or
(b) Kindergarten through grade 12, or
any part thereof, but the teacher is employed for the purpose of teaching any
grade from kindergarten through grade 5.
SECTION 2. This 2011 Act being
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and
safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2011 Act takes effect on
its passage.
