Whereas the blue star on the Honor and Remember Flag is a symbol of active service in military conflict that dates back to World War I; and

Whereas the white border surrounding the gold star on the Honor and Remember Flag recognizes the purity of sacrifice; and

Whereas the gold star on the Honor and Remember Flag signifies the ultimate sacrifice of a warrior in active service who is not returning home and reflects the value of the life given; and

Whereas the folded flag element of the Honor and Remember Flag highlights this nation’s final tribute to a fallen service member and a family’s sacrifice; and

Whereas the flame on the Honor and Remember Flag symbolizes the eternal spirit of the departed; and

Whereas the 111th United States Congress designated the Honor and Remember Flag to officially recognize and honor fallen members of the Armed Forces of the United States; now, therefore,
