  Establishes state policy to prefer wood products for use as
structural components of state buildings, subject to certain
conditions.
  Declares emergency, effective on passage.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to wood products for use in state buildings; and
  declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Section 2 of this 2011 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS chapter 276. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + The policy of this state is to promote wood as
a preferred building material for structural components of state
buildings. A state building must use wood products for
constructing a new state building or expanding an existing state
building to the extent that wood products suitable for the state
building's structure are feasible for use, competitively priced
and permitted under state or local building codes. + }
  SECTION 3.  { + This 2011 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2011 Act takes effect on its
passage. + }
