A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to Boring and Dull Day.
Whereas the village of Dull, located in the County of Perth and
Kinross in Scotland, United Kingdom, has chosen to look to
Boring, Oregon; and
Whereas the community of Boring, located within Clackamas
County in the State of Oregon, United States, has chosen to look
to Dull, Scotland; and
Whereas both Boring and Dull are located near the foothills of
their regions' most prominent mountains?Mt. Hood in Oregon,
standing at 11,250 feet, and Schiehallion in Scotland, measuring
3,553 feet; and
Whereas both Boring and Dull are surrounded by productive
pastoral farmland; and
Whereas the County of Perth and Kinross is home to numerous
horse races, horse trials and horse shows; and
Whereas Clackamas County is the home of Oregon horse country;
and
Whereas Boring is located in the evergreen Clackamas County,
named after the native Clackamas tribe; and
Whereas Dull is situated next to the County of
Clackmannanshire; and
Whereas Boring and Dull together create excitement, attracting
interest to each respective community; and
Whereas in April and May 2012 the world was abuzz in
anticipation of the pairing of Boring and Dull; and
Whereas on June 5, 2012, representing the people of Boring, the
Boring Community Planning Organization voted unanimously to
approve a declaration to pair Boring with Dull, making Boring and
Dull a 'Pair for the Ages'; and
Whereas on August 9, 2012, representing the people of Clackamas
County, the Board of County Commissioners of Clackamas County
voted unanimously to proclaim that Dull, Scotland, and Boring,
Oregon, are a 'Pair for the Ages' and that August 9 shall be
recognized as a Boring and Dull day in perpetuity; and
Whereas Boring and Clackamas County are situated within the
State of Oregon; and
Whereas the Seventy-seventh Legislative Assembly endorses and
supports the actions of the Boring Community Planning
Organization and the Board of County Commissioners of Clackamas
County; and
Whereas reading this 2013 Act is boring and dull; now,
therefore,
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + August 9 of each year is designated as Boring
and Dull Day to commemorate the pairing of Boring, Oregon, and
Dull, Scotland, as a 'Pair for the Ages.' + }
