  Clarifies application of provisions of chapter 664, Oregon Laws
1995, to pending proceedings.
  Declares emergency, effective on passage.

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to protective proceedings; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Notwithstanding the repeal of statutory
provisions by section 105, chapter 664, Oregon Laws 1995, any
guardianship, conservatorship or other protective proceeding
commenced under the provisions of ORS chapter 126 (1993 Edition)
that is pending on the effective date of chapter 664, Oregon Laws
1995, shall continue to be governed by the laws in effect
immediately before the effective date of chapter 664, Oregon Laws
1995. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + This Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this Act takes effect on its
passage. + }
