AN ACT
HB 2154
Relating to the financial
administration of the Civil Rights Division of the Bureau of Labor and
Industries; appropriating money; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of ORS
656.506 and 656.605, there is transferred and appropriated to the Civil Rights
Division of the Bureau of Labor and Industries, for the biennium beginning July
1, 1999, the sum of $466,436 from the Workers' Benefit Fund. The moneys
transferred shall be from employee and employer workers' compensation hourly
assessments.
(2) The Civil Rights
Division may use the moneys transferred to the Civil Rights Division from the
Workers' Benefit Fund under subsection (1) of this section only to enforce the
provisions of ORS 659.410, 659.412, 659.415, 659.417 and 659.420 subject to the
following conditions:
(a) Annually, by fiscal
year, the Civil Rights Division shall provide the Director of the Department of
Consumer and Business Services information regarding the number and disposition
of complaints filed by injured workers with the Civil Rights Division; and
(b) The moneys transferred
are subject to any terms and conditions of an interagency agreement between the
director and the Civil Rights Division to carry out the provisions of this
section.
SECTION 2. This 1999 Act being necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is
declared to exist, and this 1999 Act takes effect July 1, 1999.
