SENATOR GINNY BURDICK AND REPRESENTATIVE LARRY GALIZIO TO HOLD TOWN HALL
PORTLAND –Senator Ginny Burdick (D-Portland/Tigard) and Representative Larry Galizio (Tigard) will be co-hosting a town hall on November 17, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Multnomah Arts Center Auditorium. Senator Burdick and Representative Galizio will be discussing major accomplishments of the 2007 legislation session, including the passage of new identity theft legislation that provides greater assistance to victims of identity theft (Senate Bill 583).
Special guest speaker Cory Streisinger, director of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services, will present information on the current status of identity theft in Oregon, along with advice on how to prevent identity theft and resources that are available if you become a victim.
Oregon currently ranks 13th in the nation per capita for identity theft. The most common incidents are fraudulent credit card use and fraudulent banking activity that can result in damaged credit records, and unauthorized activities.
Sen. Burdick and Rep. Galizio also will provide information about the upcoming February 2008 session and seek comments and questions from constituents attending the town hall. The event is open to the public and the community is encouraged to attend.
