Working Hard For You

JUST FOR FUN

I thought I would take a small break form talk of health care or the economy just for one week.  As a matter of full discloser, I am a big music fan and music has been an important part of my life from my early teenage years.  I grew up in the era of the Beatles, et al, and my roots start there.  While I appreciate all music, in reality I favor rock-n-roll.

A couple of months ago an XM radio channel (Classic Vinyl- XM46) came out with their top one hundred songs of the 60’s and 70’s.  It is a very good list, but I felt there were some omissions and I didn’t agree with the order.  I set out to create my own but stopped at fifty mostly because of time constraints.  I am now offering both lists to you for your consideration knowing full well yours will be different.  There will be no grades as this is just for fun, but I would be interested in your opinion on where I have gone wrong.

Two other notes need to be made on the front end.  First Jethro Tull’s album “Thick As A Brick” (which is all one song) is my all time favorite and sits in a class by itself.  Secondly my favorite ballad is Cat Steven’s “Morning Has Broken” and it is also not on the list.

I have enjoyed playing with this and remembering the music of my youth.  I hope it sparks some memories for you.

What I will be printing here is XM’s top 50 and then mine.
