Nancy Nathanson Hello and welcome to my legislative website! It is my honor to serve the citizens of House District 13 and the rest of Oregon in our State Legislature. I know that times are tough for Oregon families. As your Representative, I focus on fair and reasonable outcomes, and recovery from this economic storm. In 2011, government-business-as-usual can't work. That’s why I worked diligently chairing the Government Efficiency Task Force, bringing more than a dozen bills to streamline state and local government. I also proposed bills covering topics including affordable health care, public safety, and improving the rail transportation system. Here’s a list of the bills that I filed and others that I co-sponsored. I’m proud that nearly half of these bills passed. Oregonians need help weathering the economy, Oregon can't solve a global economic recession on its own, and the state budget is simply not sufficient to keep doing what we've been doing. In 2011 the legislature faced an unprecedented budget gap and the first-ever 30-30 split between Democrats and Republicans in the House. Despite that we completed the session on time, balanced the budget with increased funding for K-12 schools over the governor’s recommendation, put the wheels in motion to make fundamental changes in Oregon’s health care system, including giving individuals and small business an easy way to compare prices and features of private health insurance plans; improved government efficiency, and passed a plan to re-draw the legislative boundaries for the 60 House and 30 Senate Districts. My primary committee assignments are in the areas of budget (Joint Ways and Means) and Transportation and Economic Development. In addition to the committees listed from the link in the left bar, I also serve on workgroups and task forces that cover Court Facilities, Columbia River Crossing, State Radio Project, Passenger Rail, Government Efficiency, and the State Library & Archives.
