New Digital Terminal Will Make
Finding Agendas, Information Easier
(SALEM) -- Legislative leaders Tuesday unveiled Capitol AIDE, a new touch-screen display which will make the legislative process more transparent and accessible to the public.
The first Capitol Automated Interactive Digital Entryway display is located outside the State Senate Chambers.
In one location, members of the public can:
· See the daily schedule of committee meetings at the Capitol;
· Find and search committee agendas by measure number;
· Locate the offices of legislators and other key officials in the building;
· View the layout of all five floors of the Capitol, including the location of committee and other meeting rooms;
· And see an alert scroll at the bottom of the screen listing any meeting that has been posted in the last hour.
Officials said during the 2011 session more than 2,800 agendas and revisions were posted for committee meetings. On average, that amounted to about 125 agendas and revisions each week that were physically posted on bulletin boards outside the Senate and House Chambers.
Capitol AIDE is being demonstrated during the 2012 Legislative Session. The bulletin boards will continue to serve as the official location where committee agendas will be posted in the 2012 session.
Capitol AIDE is the product of the Legislature’s bicameral and bi-partisan Information Technology Governance Board and was developed by the Legislature’s Information Services. It is housed in a kiosk constructed by inmates working for Oregon Corrections Enterprises.
