Seeley Accepts Position at OHSU
(SALEM)
– Senate President Peter Courtney today announced that Connie Seeley, his long-time
chief of staff, has accepted a position at Oregon Health and Science University
as Chief of Staff for President Dr. Joe Robertson. She will be leaving
the Senate President’s Office following the February session.
“Connie
has been an invaluable asset as my chief of staff for the past seven years. I
want to thank her for her exceptional service – not just to me but also to the
entire Legislative Assembly and the people of Oregon. We all wish her well in
her new job,” Courtney said.
Seeley
began her legislative service in 1997 as legislative assistant for then
Representative Courtney. Following a stint working for former U.S. Rep. Darlene
Hooley, Seeley served as Legislative Director for former Senate Majority Leader
Kate Brown. She rejoined Courtney when he became President of the Oregon Senate
in 2003.
“Working
for the Legislature has been an honor and a privilege and I want to thank
Senator Courtney for giving me that opportunity. While I will greatly
miss the elected officials and staff I have worked with for the last 13 years,
I am excited about this new opportunity,” Seeley said. “I’m looking forward to
joining the dedicated team at OHSU.”
A
Portland native, Seeley is a graduate of the University of Oregon and served on
the 2005 Public Commission on the Oregon Legislature.
“Connie’s
wealth of institutional knowledge will not be easily replaced but she helped me
assemble one of the best staffs in state government anywhere in the country.
She will be missed but we will carry on,” Courtney said.
