Courtney Continues Bi-Partisan Tone
With Announcement of Interim Committees
(SALEM) Senate President Peter Courtney continued the bi-partisan tone set during the highly successful 2011 session today with the announcement of Interim Senate committee assignments.
Even though Democrats hold a 16-14 majority in the Senate, Courtney named three members of the minority Senate Republican Caucus to chair interim committees and evenly divided five of the committees or sub-committees with equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans.
Interim committees are scheduled to meet three times before the 2012 session convenes February 1. Meetings are planned during Legislative Days September 21-23, November 16-18 and January 18-20.
