Courtney Responds to Economic Forecast

Statement by Senate President Peter Courtney

“The economy is erratic right now. Optimism has been replaced by uncertainty. The stock market is up one day and down the next. It’s really difficult to know today what things will be like two years down the road.

“We budgeted more reserves for 11-13, but the end of the biennium is a long ways off.  This is the first forecast since session ended. We have more forecasts to come. We have annual sessions. The Legislature will be back in February.  We will make adjustments to the budget.”
