EDWARDS APPOINTED CO-CHAIR OF NATURAL RESOURCES SUBCOMITTEE OF WAYS & MEANS
SALEM — In an announcement from the Senate President’s Office Friday, Sen. Chris Edwards (D-District 7) was named co-chair of the Natural Resources Subcommittee of Joint Ways & Means for the upcoming 2011 Legislative Session.
“Natural resources are an important part of our state’s economy and quality of life,” said Edwards. “While we face huge challenges next session in balancing our budget, I’m excited about the job I’ve been given.”
As co-chair, Edwards will be responsible for overseeing the budgets for the Oregon Department of Agriculture, the Department of Energy, the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Department of Environmental Quality, and others.
In addition to serving as co-chair, Edwards was also appointed to serve on the full Ways and Means Committee, the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Education, and the Senate Committee on Business, Transportation, and Economic Development. Ways and Means is the chief budget-writing committee of the Legislature.
The 76th Oregon Legislative Assembly will convene on January 10th. Committees will begin meeting for legislative business on February 1st.
