REP. ESQUIVEL TO
SERVE AS ‘PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY’ AT MEDFORD’S MADRONE TRAIL CHARTER SCHOOL
SALEM— Rep. Sal Esquivel
(R-Medford) announced that he will serve as “Principal for a Day’ at Medford’s
Madrone Trail Charter School on December 1. The visit will give Rep.
Esquivel the opportunity to learn more about the public school and the
education it provides to local students.
“I look forward to serving as
‘Principal for a Day’ and working alongside some of our local educators,” Rep.
Esquivel said. “I also look forward to talking with students to hear their
perspective on what they need to gain a quality education that prepares them
for the future.”
The Madrone Trail Charter School
is a public charter school for Medford students in Kindergarten through 8th
grade. The school uses unique teaching methods that combine child
development principles and academics. Among the differences between Madrone and
traditional public schools, Madrone students stay with the same teacher between
the 5th and 8th grades.
“Madrone is an example of how our
public schools can innovate and adapt to changing times,” Rep. Esquivel said.
“As a supporter of Oregon’s charter schools, I believe schools such as Madrone
are a model for 21st Century education.”
