SALEM -- It's no secret that the Democratically controlled Legislature is looking at a long list of possible tax and fee increases to help offset stunning budget cuts expected to result from Oregon's prolonged recession.

But House Republicans have provided a graphic, Tax Day summary of what's under consideration -- a 17-page table of bills currently under consideration that seek to raise revenue for state government. The list can be seen on the caucus's website here.

Republican leaders are calling on the Legislature to refer any big tax hikes to voters. They favor tax cuts to stimulate the economy.

"With Democrats in complete control of state government," says House Minority Leader Bruce Hanna, R-Roseburg, " the question is not whether taxes will be raised during this recession -but by how much."
