STATEMENT FROM HOUSE REPUBLICAN LEADER BRUCE HANNA
ON
GOVERNOR’S BUDGET
ANNOUNCEMENT
“Republicans have been calling on the Governor to reverse his pay raises to political appointees for months. Finally, he’s bending to pressure because he knows that Oregonians are outraged. However, taxpayers are still on the hook for $218 million in pay raises to state employees that the Governor negotiated in late 2007.
“The
Governor today indicated
that everything is on the table. If this is true, he would also
consider requiring all legislators, statewide officeholders and agency directors
to contribute to their own insurance premiums.
“Unlike
the Governor, we will not support cutting a single school day this year.
