STATEMENT FROM HOUSE REPUBLICAN LEADER BRUCE HANNA

ON HOUSE DEMOCRATS’ ECONOMIC PLAN

 

SALEM—House Republican Leader Bruce Hanna (R-Roseburg) had the following to say regarding the economic plan announced by House Democrats this morning:

 

“The Democrats’ plan lacks substance, yet their economic strategy is simply to grow the size of government.  Their pork barrel financing scheme will require tax and fee increases, as well as significant increases in new government debt. Unsustainable spending and uncontrolled debt will do more damage to our economy than good.

 

“Once again, the Democrats have been long on ideas for spending money and growing government, but very short on ideas to stimulate the economy and make it easier for families to make it through the recession.

 

“Oregon House Republicans have repeatedly advocated for specific policy changes to put more dollars and capital back into the economy. We will continue to work to provide real tax relief for working families, tax fairness for lower income Oregonians and tax reforms to promote capital investment in businesses and workers.”
