HUNT ANNOUNCES PERMANENT FIX

KEEPING GOVERNMENT CAMP REST AREA OPEN

SALEM – State Representative Dave Hunt (D-Clackamas County) announced today that the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has agreed to reallocate funding to keep the Government Camp Rest Area open and serving Oregonians traveling on Highway 26.

Last fall Hunt, other legislators and ODOT reached a temporary agreement with Clackamas County Tourism and Oregon Travel Experience to keep the Government Camp Rest Area open until March 31, 2012.

Hunt drafted legislation for the 2012 session to keep the Government Camp Rest Area open permanently.

“We commend ODOT Director Matt Garrett, Region 1 Director Jason Tell, and their colleagues for working with us to protect this important rest area and continue to serve the thousands of Oregonians who drive this route each year,” said Hunt.
