REPRESENTATIVE KENNEMER AND SENATOR OLSEN SCHEDULE TOWN HALL
Clackamas County--State Representative Bill Kennemer (R-Oregon City) and State Senator Alan Olsen (R-Canby) will hold a Pre-2012 Legislative Session Town Hall on Wednesday, January 25 in Canby to listen to citizens’ concerns and comments and share their views on the upcoming session.
In November 2010, Oregon voters amended the state constitution to require the Legislature to hold annual legislative sessions. As the first even-year session under the new constitutional amendment, the 2012 session will begin on Feb. 1 and will be limited to 35 days. In February of 2013 the legislature will convene to hold its longer 160 day odd numbered year session. The shorter even-year session is intended to deal with budget adjustments, technical corrections to existing laws and review of important issues that can be decided in a short period of time.
The Wednesday, January 25 legislative town hall will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Hope Village Community Meeting Room at 1577 S. Ivy in Canby. The meeting is open to the public and free to attend.
Senator Olsen said, “I’m giving my time and energy towards ideas that will put businesses back on track and Oregonians back to work. I’m working to end Oregon’s unfair tax on high-volume businesses. It’s a barrier to prosperity for Oregon’s working class families.”
As Co-Chair of the House Business and Labor Committee, Rep Kennemer has also placed a high priority on job creation and fewer government regulations that harm business success in Oregon. “Serving on the Health Care Committee”, Kennemer notes, “we’re working to make our struggling health care system more outcome based, more accessible and still affordable, huge challenges in these difficult times.”
