REP. BILL KENNEMER RECEIVES COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS
FOR 2013 SESSION
SALEM— Rep. Bill Kennemer (R-Oregon City), entering his third term in the Oregon House, has been appointed to three key committees by the House Speaker-nominee for the 2013 legislative session.
Rep. Kennemer will serve as Vice Chair of the House Business and Labor Committee, which is the primary committee for regulatory and workplace policies that affect businesses, employers and the job market. Rep. Kennemer co-chaired the committee during his second House term.
“I’m pleased to return to the Business and Labor Committee, where I’ve worked hard to seek balance and common ground on issues relating to employers and workers,” Rep. Kennemer said. “In the upcoming session it’s important for the committee to identify and eliminate barriers to job creation.”
Rep. Kennemer will once again serve on the House Health Care Committee that oversees the state’s health care system and insurance regulatory policies.
“The Health Care Committee will play a critical role in 2013 as federal and state reforms are implemented,” Rep. Kennemer said. “I look forward to working on policies that protect the Oregon Health Plan and make health coverage more affordable for everyone.”
In addition, Rep. Kennemer will serve on the House Rules Committee, a standing committee that considers elections issues, oversees the legislative process, and typically hears bills after other committees have closed for the session.
“House Rules is a very important committee that will meet through the end of the legislative session,” Rep. Kennemer said. “In addition to assuring a fair and transparent elections system, the committee will likely consider a number of hot-button issues after key legislative deadlines have passed.”
While in session, Rep. Kennemer can be reached at his Capitol office at 503-986-1439. House District 39 residents are encouraged to contact him with questions, comments and concerns regarding state government.
