CONGRESSMAN GREG WALDEN TO JOIN IRAQ-AFGHAN WAR VET & PURPLE HEART RECIPIENT CODY SMITH IN

HONORING OREGON’S VETERANS

SALEM—Rep. Dennis Richardson (R-Central Point) reminds southern Oregonians that Oregon Congressman, Greg Walden and Iraq-Afghan War veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, Cody Smith, will join the Southern Oregon community in honoring Oregon’s veterans and fallen war heroes on Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11th at 9 a.m.  Patriotic music by “The Notables” and Bagpipe music will add to this important family ceremony.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Beginning at 9:00 with a Flag Ceremony, National Anthem and invocation, Congressman Walden and Army Pfc Smith will speak at a special Veteran’s Day ceremony at Central Point’s beautiful Oregon Fallen War Heroes Memorial.  This memorial is dedicated to honoring and remembering every Oregon Vet and service man and woman killed in the line of duty from statehood to the present.

“This Veteran’s Day, the citizens of Central Point and the Rogue Valley will honor Oregonian veterans who have sacrificed so much in the cause of freedom and liberty,” Rep. Richardson said. “Come listen to the speakers, to the National Anthem sung by The Notables, a Rogue Valley women’s choir, and enjoy inspiring bagpipe music—all within the one hour program.”

Rep. Richardson, Marty Terrell and other Central Point citizens helped plan, raise funds and construct the Oregon Fallen War Heroes Memorial, located next to the C.P. Cemetery at Don Jones Memorial Park on Vilas-Hamrick Road in Central Point. The memorial was dedicated in 2008.
