Constituent Assistance

Rent and energy bill assistance:

If you or someone you know needs assistance paying rent or energy bills, or help finding other resources, you can find contacts at Community Action’s “How We Help” Page.

Emergency food assistance:

If you would like to donate food to the Oregon Food Bank, you can drop off non-perishables at your local Jiffy Lube or US Bank. If you would like to volunteer some time or know someone who needs some assistance with getting food, you can find Washington County food pantries here.

Or you can get a hot meal at one of the Washington County emergency meal sites.

Health care and prescription drug assistance:

Does your family need help getting health insurance for your children?  We passed legislation last session to expand the Oregon Healthy Kids program to cover virtually all uninsured Oregon children.  You can find eligibility requirements, coverage opportunities, and apply online for the Oregon Healthy Kids Program.

Included in our comprehensive health reform was a large expansion of the Oregon Health Plan.  If you currently are uninsured or underinsured, you may qualify for affordable health insurance through the Oregon Health Plan.  To learn more, click here.

The Oregon legislature recently expanded the Oregon Prescription Drug Purchasing Pool which provides discounts of up to 60% on all prescription medications.  All Oregonians are eligible to enroll and can do so online or by phone.  For more information, click here.

Other assistance programs:

The Oregon Helps website can tell you whether your family might be able to get help from 33 different state and federal assistance programs, including the Oregon Health Plan, food stamps and Section 8 housing.  The questionnaire takes less than five minutes and requires no personal information. This online calculator is only a general guideline and cannot guarantee admission to any programs.

The Oregon Department of Housing and Community Services provides an extensive list of other services including low-income housing, legal aid, landlord/tenant assistance and senior services on their I need Help page.
