Dear Chip,

The challenges for our returning troops are immense. National estimates indicate that 30 percent of returning troops who have experienced combat exhibit some form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As Chair of the Public Safety Subcommittee of Ways & Means, which oversees the Oregon National Guard budget, I invite you to come to Salem for an informational hearing in that committee to learn what Oregon is doing well and how we can do better. If you know a demobilizing Oregon National Guard member who needs help, call the Oregon National Guard Post Deployment Assistance line at 1-888-688- 2264.

Helping Returning Troops - An Informational Hearing

The Oregon National Guard actively assists demobilizing Oregon National Guard members transition back to their families, their job or school and their community. Come learn how. Come learn what else we as Oregonians need to do to give our troops the heroes welcome and proper services they so richly deserve. This hearing is not the appropriate place to testify about your feelings on the war in Iraq.
