Biography
Jim was born in Yamhill Co. December, 28th 1968. Growing up, Jim attended Yamhill Grade School, Sheridan High School, and West Valley Academy and has a large extended family that has resided within the county since the late 1800’s.
In addition to being a State Representative, Jim is a youth coach and has also participated in organizing his local chapter of Sports Ministry. Jim has worked for numerous lumber companies and local mills and his career in vibration analysis has given him an aptitude for efficiency. While helping large plants run at maximum production with minimum waste, it has sprung unique challenges that allowed Jim to offer common sense solutions and ingenuity.
As owner of a restaurant, Lago de Chapala, Jim was also provided with numerous situations to enhance his talent for small business management. As a small business owner, Jim understands the unique challenges that beset an owner of a small company. Together, Jim feels we can address our common concerns as small business owners and Oregonians will become better informed about the policies that affect our economic communities. Jim is committed to bringing unique ideas to the table and discovering creative solutions to resolve the concerns of all Oregonians.
Jim and his wife care for their four boys and attend Newberg Christian Church. They are active in facilitating marriage classes through the church and enjoy building a strong family community. Jim believes, that when we advance Biblical values and God-honoring leaders in our cities, states, and nation, all people are blessed (Ps. 33:12, Pr. 14:34) and liberty is preserved so that the church can freely evangelize and disciple and our democracy will flourish as the founders intended, as one nation under God.
Jim is disappointed by the lack of care expressed for our children at a state policy level, as well as the inflated protection of ‘personal rights’ awarded to convicted addicts and pedophiles. Jim will always advocate for the most vulnerable of our state, our children and elderly.
Jim will bring his unique experiences and logically deliberate and accommodate all opinions into his decision making process. Jim is committed to bringing common sense and prudent solutions to the Oregon legislature.
